Tell ‘Em Patsy Sent You!

In 1999, a long-time customer of C. Woods Company, Patsy Baird, approached Carey Woods telling him she would love to do a commercial for C. Woods. She had some ideas and a background in acting and the theatre. Carey Woods decided to give her a shot. He asked his ad agency to write a couple of T.V. spots and use Patsy as the talent.

They did so, and the spots aired. Patsy became an overnight sensation. She became the spokesperson for the C. Woods Company, and appeared on countless ads. She appeared with her husband, she appeared individually and with other actors and actresses, but it was always Patsy.

Later, a C. Woods affiliate in South Texas also used Patsy in their advertising. She became an icon for C. Woods. People began to seek out autographed pictures. They wanted to have their pictures taken alongside life-sized cutouts of Patsy, and she was constantly approached by individuals and fans who wanted her autograph. In short, “Tell ‘em Patsy sent you” became a by-word for customers and potential customers of C. Woods Company.

Sadly, Patsy left us on June 4, 2005. As she battled her disease, however, Patsy insisted on doing commercials and specified that C. Woods continue to use her commercials and her image for as long as they wished, securing her own piece of “immortality.” As you see commercial after commercial, and hear “Tell ‘em Patsy sent you,” know that Patsy is somewhere on high, smiling.
